Verse 1

Sanskrit verse

कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारं संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम्। सदा वसन्तं हृदयारविन्दे भवं भवानीसहितं नमामि॥

Transliteration

Karpuragauram Karunavataram Sansaarasaaram Bhujagendra-haaram, Sada Vasantam Hridayaravinde Bhavam Bhavaanisahitam Namaami.

Meaning

Fair as camphor, an embodiment of compassion, the essence of existence itself, wearing the serpent king as a garland, and forever dwelling in the lotus of the heart — I bow to Shiva, together with Bhavani.

वन्दे देवम् उमापतिं सुरगुरुं वन्दे जगत्कारणम्। वन्दे पन्नगभूषणं मृगधरं वन्दे पशूनां पतिम्॥ वन्दे सूर्यशशाङ्क वह्निनयनं वन्दे मुकुन्दप्रियम्। वन्दे भक्तजनाश्रयं च वरदं वन्दे शिवं शङ्करम्॥

Transliteration

Vande Devam Umapatim Suragurum Vande Jagatkaaranam, Vande Pannagabhooshanam Mrigadharam Vande Pashoonaam Patim. Vande Soorya Shashaanka Vahninayanam Vande Mukundapriyam, Vande Bhaktajanaashrayam Cha Varadam Vande Shivam Shankaram.

Meaning

Salutations to the Lord of Uma, teacher of the gods, and the cause of the universe. Salutations to him who wears a serpent as ornament and holds a deer, the master of all creatures. Salutations to him whose three eyes are the sun, moon and fire, dear to Mukunda. Salutations to Shankara, refuge of devotees and giver of every boon.
